INTUITION POWER

Do you feel drawn to power up your intuitive centre?

‘Intuition is the ability to understand or know something immediately, without the need for conscious reasoning or analysis. It is often described as a “gut feeling” or an instinctive understanding that arises from within, without the person necessarily being aware of the underlying reasoning or evidence’, Google

‘I have a gut feeling’

‘I just know …’

‘I feel it in my waters’

These phrases tap into what intuition is. You just know, how something is. You feel it. ‘A deep knowing’, one would say. An inner believing.

It’s easy to get lost in the swamp of different voices in your mind, often talking louder than that ‘still quiet little voice’ that comes from your intuitive centre. When we get sucked into the vacuum of people pleasing, we end up often confused, we don’t know what we want, which way to go, who to listen to … etc

Power of the child

When we are born, our inner voice is strong. We know what we want, when we want it, who we like, who we don’t etc. A young child can be very sure of themselves. I’m sure many of you have been in a situation when your youngest says something painfully true in a social situation leaving others blushing or someone slightly offended! As we grow up, our caregivers may have told us that we ‘should try and give that person the benefit of the doubt’, when the little voice inside says, ‘that person is not for me’. Remember when you didn’t want to go somewhere or do something, and then a more dominant and powerful voice in your life would tell you otherwise, ‘You’ll love it when you get there’ or they’ll unconsciously shame you, ‘Try to think about other people’s feelings…’ And slowly, over time, we lose the powerful connection with our own intuition and start to get lost in societal expectations and a culture who thrives on being polite, one that gently guides us down ‘the yellow brick road’ to sacrificing our own needs to make others feel at ease.

Body talk

Your body knows. Our bodies often give us hints, if we don’t listen to our own inner knowing. We may develop stomach aches, head aches and eventually an illness can ramp up. Physical manifestations of not living our truth will take on a life of their own. And ultimately, our external reality will start to mirror back to us where we are off kilter. Confusing realities, miscommunication in relationships and unexpected chaotic circumstances begin to regularly show up in our lives.

How to get back on track and tap into your intuition

  1. Start focusing more on your inner world. Energy flows where attention goes. Close your eyes and sit quietly.

  2. Body scanning. Breathe deeply and begin to connect with your body. Feel into the sensations of your body. How your lungs feel, your heart, your solar plexus, is it tight or relaxed? Does your body feel comfortable and relaxed or contracted and uncomfortable?

  3. Start a conversation between your mind and the sensation you’re feeling. If your chest feels tight, visualise what colour would represent that feeling? Then imagine what image might come to mind? Play a little, without judgement, with what the sensation brings up.

  4. Ask questions. Ask why that sensation is here? What does it mean? What is it trying to tell you?

  5. Listen. Grab a pen, and write freely about what you hear, however ‘exaggerated’ or ‘wacky’, the more you lean in, the more truth will unfurl.

Building up a relationship with your inner voice, your intuition, takes time and patience. Treat this new budding relationship like a romance, and over time you’ll build more trust in your self, and start to listen more carefully to what that quiet little voice is saying. How it is gently guiding you in every moment, always with your best intentions at heart.

Importance of a stable foundation

It’s important to feel grounded in your life, as much as possible. Feeling safe and supported in your everyday will help boost your intuition. We therefore are self regulating in a healthy way, giving our inner voice a clear path. If our lives are full of drama, we may lose our ability to listen in.

Nature, bodywork and grounding activities are very helpful and work well in tandem with exploring your own intuitive centre

When I read tarot, there are some strange stories that bubble up in my mind, they often don’t make sense to me, but it’s my job as a tarot reader to ‘step out the way’ and deliver the message. In a sensitive way of course! I’ve had to work on freedom techniques to break away from the conditioned mind, and access my own little voice. However shaky or wobbly it sounds, I allow it expression.

We can feel foolish at the drop of a hat in the society we live in, with so much peer pressure to be ‘perfect’ and ‘normal’. Your inner voice may have different plans for you, but I take comfort that by following my intuition, it usually always leads me to my happiest and most authentic outcome.

“Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't be trapped by dogma - which is living with the results of other people's thinking. Don't let the noise of other's opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.” Steve Jobs
